Steven Berkowitzは、視覚的なものから風趣の領域において彼のドローイングを置き換えるために
プログラムを書き始めたことで、1970年代の早い時期からコンピュータと深くかかわり、後に写真、
コンピューターグラフィック、サウンドインスタレーションの作品へと発展していった。

BIOGRAPHY

Steven Berkowitz received an MFA for his Photography/ Compputer Graphics/ Sound Installations form Tyler School of Art in 1978 after doing independent research at Princeton University and the Imperial College of Science and Technology, London. He became involved with computers in the early 1970' when he began writing programs on maniframe computers to translate his drawings from the visual to the aural domain.

TEACHING

Steven is now Associtate Professor and the Head of the TUCC Photography and Digital Imaging Area, and Coordinator of Computer Technology, for the Department of Art & Art Education of Tyler School of Art, Temple University where he teaches Photography, Digital Imaging, and Design. He taught the first classes and wrote the original curriculum in Computer Imaging for Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia in the early 1980's.

EXHIBITION

Steven's work has been exhibited, published, performed, and broadcast nationally and internationally. An NEA Individual Fellowship in 1980 was the first of his numerous grants.

STUDIO

He now resides in Greenwich Villege, NEw York City where he owns Lateral Imaging Digital Studios. He also maintains a studio in Tokyo,Japan where he spends his summers.
